After a trip that has taken her from Istanbul to London and all over Europe, Zola Jesus will play tonight in Warsaw for the first time ever - she's very excited and so are we.
Thanks to the awesome kids at Electronic Beats headquarters for making this possible! ALSO thanks to all LEIPZIGERS - last night was incredible!!
The guys at Rough Trade, avowed cover-lovers and Nirvana Fans (seriously, who can say he isn't) put together a limited split 7" of EMA and Sub Pop's Male Bonding featuring covers of two Nevermind-era Nirvana songs.
Male Bonding does "Aneurysm", a B-side from Nirvana's "Smells Like Teen Spirit" single, while EMA does "Endless, Nameless", the album's hidden-track-noise-orgy.
Listen here: 'Half Red, Half Way', the first track off new album 'Intro To Fractions' from Atlanta GA's most excellent shoegaze trio, is now available for your cost-free enjoyment - check it out below.
EMA's new single 'Marked' is going to hit stores on November 21 and your favourite download shop TODAY! The unreleased B-side “Angelo” featuring a guest verse by Mz’Gorjis of Oakland, CA’s Platnum Platnum Glam Squad, compliments the gorgeously dark, breathy reverie of “Marked”.
Erika M. Anderson: “I first saw Mz'Gorjis perform at the Black Cowboy Parade in West Oakland. The parade is kind of like a block party where they have cowboys in full Western wear come and do tricks on horses and give rides to the neighborhood kids, all in the inner city near the infamous Lower Bottoms area. This took place about a block from my old house at De Fremery Park, where the
Black Panthers used to meet and distribute meals to the community. Mz'Gorjis was performing with her group Platnum Platnum Glam Squad, an all female rap group
from Oakland. It was fantastic. Later when I was looking for a rapper to guest on "Angelo" I thought of her. The song is about Oakland and the different ways people try to make a name for themselves there. Her local connection was important to me. I find her performance on the track to be graceful and refined.”
